Another Saturday morning in seng season...

The last 4 weeks it has been bad dry here. We did get a little rain the past day or two, but other than that nothing more than a dust settler.

This morning it was nice and cool. Beautiful fall morning. I started off wearing a short sleeve shirt with a long sleeve t-shirt over that. The first hour or so I dang near froze. But after you walk them hillsides a while and start digging you warm up nicely.

I hunted a few small hollows on some land I own this morning.

Big change in color I am seeing from last Saturday to this one. Almost all are yellow now and many look like a good wind or rain will blow them over.

It ain't going to last long now. Next weekend may be about the end for me.

Here is a few pics of what I found this morning.

This one here was the greenest that I found today and it was already laying down.

Found several with leaf sets fallen off and some that were ghostly yellow like this one.

Man those are sure easy to spot.

Did find one 4 prong today - this was the best top and root of the day.

That 4 prong had a decent root on it.

It had some big old flats on the neck, and forked off to 5 separate roots.

My pocket knife there is a case canoe.

Ended up with 4.5 oz. Adding more to the pile.

Total dug so far 51.7 oz Green.

If it dried 3:1 that would be 17.23 oz dry (little over a pound).

It may do more like 3.5:1 (not sure)... but will see later on when it is all dry.

I have a couple more hunts lined up... so looks like I should make my goal of 1 dry pound (maybe a little more).

Hope you all are having a Great Weekend !

Keep digging... It will be gone soon.
