Prices droped in Ky today in our area Bell and Harlan County
The 2 big dealers that I work with droped 1 of them dropped $20 --from 700 to 680

and the other 1 droped $10 --from 690 to 680

Both are at 680

and said they did look for it to drop more.

I let you all know this so you would have the heads up.

He said it may go back up a little before Christmas, but it was going down at this time.

Now,,so that I am not falsely accused of negotiating prices, let it be understood that I am not telling no one to sell there seng just letting you know what I found out today as your friend.

G/L All

Hey Guys - confirmed the price drop with the dealer we have been selling to - Glenn Bradey over in Pulasky TN.

He was offering 730.00 first of this week, but said all he could give us if we sell tomorrow (Saturday) is 700.00.

I am going to see if my partner wants to sell tomorrow at that price, expect he will since it has obviously turned down a bit at this point.

Who knows what it will do later in the year, could go sky high, but 700.00 is sure a nice price - I will sure be happy with that.

Guys I had one guy offer me $710:00 for my ginseng (the 13 pound I dug myself) a few days ago and I sold mine then.I will not complain about getting $710:00 a pound for my ginseng and would be very happy if it got to that again next season I have seen to many seasons at $450:oo to $525:00 to have any complaints for $710:00 and I know alot of you older diggers can agree with that.

Billy.

p.s. it droped to $670:00 here already.

Chieftan / Billy,

Yep I remember the late 70's and early 80's and seems like we mostly got around 200.00 - possibly up to 250.00 back then.

But then a good coon could fetch 24.00-28.00, grey fox around 40.00, nice tom bobcat around 100.00, mink 30.00-40.00, muskrat 5-6.00, even sold possum for 3-5.00.

Many of the guns I have today were bought with fur and ginseng money from back in those days.

We did sell on Saturday 11/20/2010 for 700.00/lb

That is the most I ever sold any seng for, very happy to get that price.

Good Luck to any of you KY guys that are still holding !

Glad to see everybody seems to have gotten a good price out of the root.
Just wondering if all you other guys hunt or use to trap fur ?
I know i use to coon hunt and trap and chief coon hunts but how bout everybody else?
Seem like a trend or something going on here...lol
Maybe we all just love the woods and outdoors....
