TOPIC: TNhunter 2015

TNhunter 2015 8 years 6 months ago #36812

Got out and dug a few today.

Went to a place that I hunted 5 years ago and did well.

Today it turned out to not be so hot. Looked like someone hit it hard the past year or two and did not leave much behind.

Ended up with only 5 oz but hey ... it beat working.

Planted several red berries today too.

Below is one I found that had been browsed. Nothing but a couple berries left, which I planted.

Did not find any 4's today... but did find a few average sized 3 prongers.

Below is what the roots looked like.

Nothing huge but some decent mostly bulby root.

The 3 below are the kind I look for to keep and eat myself.

Nice bulbs with 20+ years age on them.

These are not for sale. I am going to slice them up really thin and have some seng chips to eat.

You never know what you are going to get on a seng hunt. I had hopes for a really good hunt today but it did not turn out that well. There is always next time !

nice roots, I like those bulby ones, they look to be pretty old. I love looking around that fallen timber too. Ginseng seems to love it. Everything is still really green right now. You gotta hunt real slow to spot em. Hopefully after this week maybe it will cool down a bit to. Hope you have a great season over in Middle Tn.

Alright tn. Glad u got out to enjoy the day n dig some shang. I believe its due to chipmunks why shang grows by the dead fallen trees I've found lots is partial eating berries on logs n rocks then find shang close by. Its no wonder they move so fast through the woods. Lol

Nice looking roots TN...
Got some good age on a few of them... and like you said, nice bulby stuff. Folks ought to take note of how you dig. You do it right brother. Don't dig the young ones :)
