I walked a LOT and dug a few.

I have a post up now with a few pics and details on todays hunt.

It was not near as good as I had hoped for but still it was good to get in the woods and I got quite a workout for my old body.

At the end of seng season I am in the best shape physically of the entire year. Today I got a good start on that.

I don't know how these things live in this dirt, know rocks, but they do . It's all shale. My fingers are all ripped up. I did get 15 or so and these have some decent age.

Hey Maya, nice looking root there. Looks like you really took your time digging. As stated, great job being a stewart of gensing and planting berries.

Great job, Maya. You can't do the job any better than that.

Thanks Bear & Hugh. Have you guys gotten out yet? I just ran up to a friends house to put some more berries in the ground, no digging. Dang it's hot!

Maya,

I've been out almost every day scouting and planting. Most of my planting has been berries up until a few days ago. I got a pound of seeds and it slows me down enough planting them to be able to spot ginseng plants. These have all been going into Greene County, which needs them badly. I've probably come across 25 plants while I've been out. I'll just have to wait to see if I get my name drawn to know if I get to dig or not. That will start on the 16th of Sept. We could use some rain here.
