TOPIC: Growing ginseng above 4000ft. altitude

Guys,
I was out and about yesterday and I found a spot that I really felt would be productive.
It was at the 4,500 ft. elevation level and I wondered if any of you have ever tried growing it that high. Everything looked good and there were lots of companion plants growing there. Do you think there would be any issues there that I might not know of?

I think I'd have to go for it, Hugh. All my mountain plantings are at or around 3,400 elevation.

I think I'll give it a small try. Most of my mountain plantings are only half that high and I'm pleased with them so far. I guess everything will take place up there about 2-3 weeks later than it does where I live. They will have about 2 feet of snow on them through a lot of the winter.

Here is what it looks like when you get to the top of the mountain. I thought you might enjoy this. In the 1920s and 30s Barnstormers would put on airshows and give rides for 50cents off of this mountain top. This is what it looked like yesterday.

The crowd was getting pretty heavy by the time I arrived.

I would like to have gone all the way, but I did not want to put Boomer on a leash.

Imagine taking off in a shackly old fabric covered biplane from a mountain top that drops hundreds of feet in a 360degree direction. I believe some of us ginsengers would have given it a try. Knowing what is in our hearts, we would probably have been trying to spot ginseng as we made low passes
