Snakeroot is transplants from the woods and have seed pods on them, which suprised me after transplanting and the cohosh is from seeds.

Hugh

I just saw the post where you asked me about the plants and the berrys.

You are less than an hour from me so I think that the plants here and there are close to the same on a regular season but with the odness of this drought type season there may be some difference where our Moountians are bigger etc.

But in my opinion of the two plants that you posted I do believe that you will see red berrys within 2 weeks and the heat has caused some turning to the leaves and it does show early turning of the plants in both your area and mine I exspect that the ginseng will fall earlyer than normal especialy in the more open areas and ridges in these areas it will be shorter than normal.I do not think that we will find any seng standing in those areas after late September. However in the more moist areas we should be ok untill late Oct,but I have saw seng stand many years in our areas untill late November so that is why I believe that we will have a short season and if many other areas and states have this same thing to happing then this may help the price of late sold dry ginseng a little this season for the diggers and buyers but I do not think it will help early but late.

Billy.

Billy,
Thanks for the reply. There seems to be a ton to learn from the season we are having. I guess that I would not think so much about the turning yellow factor except these plants are at a much higher altitude than where I live. I'll keep my eye on them and show how they are maturing.
