Man-o Man!
Guys, I'm getting worried about all this rain. It just keeps coming down. It has rained every day since the drought broke and it rained at least 2 inches last night and more coming in a couple of hours. We changed from the hottest and driest place in the country to the wettest place. I don't know if even spraying will get us through this. If they survive, we should have three leafers with roots as
big as your fingers.:cheer:

Still no rain here in Missouri. Some has been getting spot thundershowers, but we cant even get that where I live. Plants have been down for a month or so.

The abundance of rain was to late in my area, most all plants are gone. The only ones iv seen were really large four prongs that had enough root to absorb moisture from way down deep in the ground. I would say we can get ready to see really high prices for seng this year.

I guess that I'm lucky there in NW North Carolina. Not too hot even during the hot tomes, and pleanty of rain.

I checked on my mountain patch, and found it in good shape. Even the deer are leaving it alone. I'm going to start another post to show the recent photos I took last weekend.

Guys I went digging Goldenseal today and found sevral wild bunches and they where very healthy so the rain got hear just in time but it was pushing it because i noticed that around the ridges the dryest spots that a few bunches where lighter than the overall seng was and that was from the drought,we just did get the rain in time so I think that our season will be ok but it will not stand as long as normal in the Bell and Harlan County areas of Ky.

Billy,
I want you to take a look at this picture and see if you see the same thing that I saw yesterday when I was photographing some wild ginseng that I have been watching all summer. You said that you did not think some of your Kentucky ginseng would stand as long this year and it brought to mind what I thought when I first saw these plants yesterday. Look at the outside fringes of the leaves and see if you see the first yellowing that mature ginseng starts to do when it is starting into it's last stages of the season. Your an experienced man and I want you to also look at the berries and tell me how long it will be before they start turning red. I have made my own predictions and I believe the plants will go down before September the 1st. I think they are simply mature and probably about 3 weeks early.
