TOPIC: Plants are down

Re:Plants are down 11 years 8 months ago #18315

Here are a few more flower spikes with berries setting on now..

That plant with the \"extra tall\" flower stem is one that I got from Billy.

One last pic - a close up of one of those nice 4 prongers...

I am going to keep the watering up as long as this hot dry spell keeps going. Hope I can pull these plants thru this and have a berry harvest this year. We'll see.

Looks like that picture has a sweat-bee pollinating your ginseng.....Nice to see what is pollinating your plant,,,i thought they just stung you whenever you weren't looking :silly:

Billy, you could probably have a good market selling those big plants for seed beds.

Here are some of the 3 leafers and wild plants that I found doing pretty well yesterday. They had gotten some rain and seemed to be starting to bloom.

I was really surprised at how green everything looked after being under so much stress.

The young 3 prongs and some 2 prongs were still growing and blooming just like they should.

One or two were beginning to show some size and a good bloom pod.

I had enough ripe seed today at the house to fill my hand and I planted all of them. I tried to plant deeper than I normally would and I'll water them all through this dry spell. It looks like I am going to produce enough seed this summer to fill a row about 200feet long. Most of the plants were 4 year olds. Billy's plants are just now blooming and they are at about the same stage as the wild Tennessee plants in these pictures. I'm looking forward to planting them later this year.
