Thanks for the good comments guys.

Hillhopper

It's always a thrill to see my plants come up again after the long long winter. It has been a odd season with emerging plants. I still have older plants emerging along with new seedlings coming up every day.

About the amount of light hitting the plants and the lack of weeds or other plants growing in these beds.

Before the first planting in these beds. There was total shade covering the ground, so I removed some small maple trees to open up the canopy above to allow the right amount of light.

The only thing growing here before I planted was maple seedlings and a few trillium. Around the perimiter of the beds is black and blue cohosh, trillium and sarsparilla. Since removing the maple seedlings before planting my seng there, is just a few trillium and wild dandilion. I have not done any weeding in these beds since I planted the seeds 3 1/2 years ago. They have grown very well. All my other beds have plenty of weeds and companion plants growing among the seng.

Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for the reply Classic. That is a nice looking site and I must say you did a good job of opening up the canopy just enough.

In my area poachers are probably the biggest threat to my wild sim patches. It would make me pretty nervous to have patches that large without other foliage to blend in with. Most of my young plantings are in smaller scattered patches. Somebody may someday get some of my plantings, but it is unlikely that they will find them all:laugh:
