TOPIC: My 'sang is up....

My 'sang is up.... 12 years 6 months ago #17457

Well, guys, I'm very happy to report that the muntain patch is doing well! I was really happy to see the amount of 3-leafers that are poking their 'lil heads up.

Paticulailly after the dismal emergance from last spring's planting! As you may remember, that was less than 2%.

This photo you may have to look close, however all the little green plants are 3-leafers. I was attempting to get a full bed view here.

I wa up there last weekend, after camping in the Linville gorge all weekend. don't know about you guys, however the higher gas prices are killing me, so combined the camp trip with a patch inspection. Don't get me started on the profits made by Big Oil...

This next photo is another bed. please look closely at the \"lil 3-leafers...

I'm happy to say that all of the beds I have there in the mountains look like these photos. I have many many plants this year, and I just can't say enough about all happy I am to report this! All the work, sequential soil analyses, clearing of woods...

This next one is of a what is a rootlet I put in last year. I guess that these are now 4 year olds, as I bought 3 year old rootlets. I don't think that the leaf is fully put out in this photo...

All the plants look pretty good, and I think this is part due to the Agri-Grow seaweed solution application. My home veggies have a similar happy green look to them.

The orange flags are where last year's plants were. This is another view of a 3 year old rootlet was emerged last year.

Another bed, that you might have to look closely into. Orange flags [soon to be pulled up] are indicators of where I had plants last year. all the green in that bed is 'sang.

Congrats Whit, Lookin good! Perhaps a little dense(just my opinion), but I know how hard it is to get density just right, especially after having a horrible germination the previous planting. Perhaps you've got it just right though.

I'd much rather have the problem of being to dense than to have the Problem we had last year of hardly anything coming upB)

Ok, this is really the last one... In sizing the photos for submission to this forum these are small pics. I'd like to provide you guys a larger set of pics, however had to go this small since the server only allows me REALLY SMALL photos to upload [maybe is the Apple vs Ibm program.

Thanks, 5-Prong. I am counting on the density not being a problem this year. And am planning on transplanting the too dense ones into other beds after the first year.

I'm also thinking that there will be further emerging plants afor the next two weeks this month. to put it in perspective, this is approx 4/5th of an acre that is coming up.

Whitjr

Oh Happy Day! To start seeing enough emerged plants that the vision of that field of green is in the future. That's a good feeling. Congrats!!!

My plants are just starting to emerge up in Maine. I see thousands of 2,3 and 4 year olds coming up, but no seedlings or older plants yet. The excitement of the season is just beginning for me.

Your emergence looks great. Don't get in too big of a rush to thin the seedlings. Just see how the spacing looks each year and act accordingly. A few plants close together is no big deal.

Glad you have a good start to the season.
