TOPIC: Ginseng Pics - wild simulated, wild and seed bed 4/6/2012

Ginseng Pics - wild simulated, wild and seed bed 4/6/2012 12 years 7 months ago #17207

Hey Folks,

I have been out of town a little while on business trip, but got back home yesterday evening.

I had a couple of 3 prongs just pushing up in my seed bed last Saturday, but checked this morning and found several more up there including some 4's already rolled out and unfolding nicely.

I also took a swing down one of my hollows where I have wild simulated beds, for some this is their second spring up and others first year.

Here are a few pics I took this morning while out checking things out.

TNhunter

Found several of these nice little first year 3 leafers up - but they were obviously not all up yet. If I had to guess would say around 1/4 or less are up at this point.

Now this part was exciting...

Found several nice lil 2 prongs up in my second spring wild simulated beds.

I guess you would call these 2 year olds - this is their second spring up anyway.

Several were up good and lots were just poping up.

Another nice lil 2 prong.

Good to see them making progress, adding prongs..

I looked over - I'd say 70% of my second spring wild simulated patches and was hoping to find a lil 3 prong in the bunch but did not find any with 3 prongs yet.

Did find some very nice 2 prongs and below is a real nice one.

I was also encouraged to see lots of 2nd spring stuff up in some beds that last August all were completely dead and gone (because of the extreme heat and dry we had last summer).

This bed right here, I found some yellow spot on last June, then when I visited it again in August, not one single plant was left. I was not sure if it was the drought or the yellow spot that did them in, but hey this spring they are back and looking good.

I also visited a couple of patches of young \"Wild\" seng I have been watching for the past 3 years.

This first one looked like they had not been up long.

Here is the second \"Wild\" patch I visited and looked like some of them had been up a little longer.

Several of these are in the 3 prong stage now and 3 of them were 3 prongs last year.

I have just been planting the berries off them in that area and they are doing well.

Now here are a few pics from my seed producing bed.

This 3 prong is just up and starting to unfold - had to push up a wad of leaves to get thru.

Here is a 3 and 4 side by side, that have been up a little longer, starting to stretch out more.
