Nice fish and looks like a day of fun in the sun on a frozen lake.
Chief... Not sure what the difference is between lake and small river or creek fishing is.. but I have never had any luck catching bass, large or smallmouth or blackperch in a creek or small river between around Nov 15 and March 15. Depth of the water may make the difference.
I have seen guys on youtube catching smallies in the dead of winter... but they were fishing lakes or larger rivers than I fish (deeper water).
I bet if I had some live bait.. a bucket full of black sucker minnows, or craw dads... and fished some of those creek and small river deeper holes real slow with them... I might have better luck.
We ate another meal of bass filets this week... and I have 4-5 more packs of filets in the freezer. Will have to make those last until spring.
