TOPIC: Southern Middle TN - Spring 4/9/2013

Hey Guys...

I had some time off work today and got out and made a few pictures of \"Spring\" as it is showing here in Southern Middle TN today 4/9/2013.

I actually went on a short morel mushroom hunt, and looked in my hot spot (where I found those the past two years) but found none up today. Perhaps a day or two after our next rain that will work out better...

I got a few pictures in my garden and also in the woods to show..

First - My Peach Trees are shouting spring is here !

Next some black seeded simpson lettuce and vidalia onions showing up in my garden beds...

found no morels but there was plenty of may apple up fresh..

And lastly some trillium...



PS while I was looking for morels - even as late as 10:30 AM... there was a gobbler hammering away about 1/2 mile down the hollow from me.

Ahhh... Spring !

If he keeps that up I may be posting some Turkey pics here soon.

Nice pics TN. Spring has sprung down there finally. I think we are about two weeks behind compared to last year. But last year was sure early with the warm March we had. I guess this year is probably normal compared to most years. We have nothing popping up around here yet plant wise or morel wise.

PS... After I got some lunch - I went back after that Turkey and never heard him again.

He either just shut up or moved on somewhere else. I did some lost calls and he never responded.

I did swing by some of my wild sim beds and saw thousands of little 3 leafers up.

I did not find any 2 or 3 years olds up yet and did not find any wild up yet either today. None of the big boys in my seed producing bed are showing up yet either.

You guys there must be warmer than the mountains of NC. Your area seems to be the same in terms of foliage and blossoms as he in the piedmont of NC.

I wish that the mountains near Boone were as far along. I'm still looking for the first three-leafer!

Plenty Of Goldenseal pushing up here as well
