TNHunter- Those are really really nice well-kept veggie beds! Nice lookin plums as well!

Our garden is about the same size as yours, however is a bit sad as we had some concrete work done during the late fall, and the dirt those guys scooped out was placced on the garden beds. I had them looking pretty good until that happened. Gotta start over with the raised bed look... and conditioning the soil again, all the good soil got buried. Am working on that -with that Agri-gro solution.

All-in-all, I'm thinking that next year's garden will be looking much better. You get the prize for one of the nicest one's I've seen this year!

Thanks Whit... too bad they messed up your garden beds. I would really hate that.

My soil here (on a ridge top) was not all that good in the beginning and I have been working on improving it for a little over 10 years now, with compost and cover crops tilled in each year. It is a lot better now than it was originally.

Hugh - sorry but I can't remember the variety of my plum's.

The one in that pic has plums that turn reddish purple when ripe, and my other plum tree they turn yellowish-orange when ripe.

A few of them are starting to turn now, but it will probably be another week or so before the majority of them are ready.

In the spring, the one with reddish-purple fruit blooms about a week before the other one too.

Best I remember I just picked them up at Lowe's or possibly even WalMart one spring and planted them. They are both around 7 years old now.

I have found close to 60 of these growing in the woods. More than I have found in the last two years in the woods. Have them marked and plan on transplanting them back onto my property this fall. It seems that virginia snakeroot is very rare and not easly found where I am in wv.

I didn't realize snake root has a woody stem like that. I've been looking for someplace to get some starts/seeds from to see if I can grow it.

Its just how it looks. Its not really woody like it appears. I have found out that it considered a \"pipe vine\" all though in the woods I havnt found one yet that actually grows a vine. I am going to try transplanting a small one to see how it does. I will let you know and I will se about getting some seed or starter roots for you.

It has only been a week and 3-4 days ago since I posted those pics of my garden stuff.

Here is a update from some pics I took yesterday evening.

Things are growing fast !

This one shows my tomatoes again and you can see my block of ambrosia sweet corn back behind that...

The lettuce I started back late Feb has about played out now - so I started a couple short new rows to keep that going.

They are just starting to emerge now.

The Cukes and Squash are looking good.

Looks like the Green Squash is going to beat the yellow by a few days.

Man those things grow fast, another day or two and we will be eating squash.
