44 where I dug today was steep too.i had to dig toe holds in some places to stay on the hillside .hope your seng wound heals so you can be back in the woods....TN. the pic.s are thanks to you..maybe I should have left the beer out .but boy I was hot and thirsty...

too hot and humid for me to go today ,plus there are some thunderstorms in the area..

..21 oz. this morning .I went to a woods that used to be very productive 14 years ago...then they cut it for the timber..it was so grown up that you couldn't whip a weasel through it..but I found some good ones and plenty of young 2and 3 prongers...

Nice job chief, I went out early the past two mornings, and I'm starting to see the effects of this horrible hot dry summer we've had. Most of the cohosh is completely dried up or yellow. A lot of the ginseng I'm finding closer to the creeks and hollow bottoms are pretty green still. You get past a certain level on those ridges though, and it looks like someone took a flame thrower to it. I'm used to finding most of my good seng up high on those ridges this time of year, but this season you can forget it.
