7.5 oz. of Roots on Ebay - Wow! 14 years 2 months ago #6687

Check out what these roots are going for on ebay.
It says it includes papers from WI Dept of Natural Resources.

And that is 7.5 oz green too - they are not dry roots.

Would be around 2.5 oz dry seng.

At 500.00 lb dry and 2.5 oz = around 78.00.

The bid on that 7.5 oz green is up to 570.00 now.

If you convert that to dry price that is 228.00 per oz or 3648.00 per dry pound.

They do appear to be some nice old roots, long neck stems.

Perhaps we should all save our really old bulby roots (like below) and do what ever it takes to get to where we could sell them on ebay.

Here's another one from ebay for over $1000 green.
I think it's the same seller as the first one.

We all might be missing the boat on this deal. I'm not too familiar with Ebay and international selling, but I wonder if there is someone from China or the far East bidding on these things. If anyone out there ever takes a shot at doing this, I would certainly be interested in not only knowing the results, but what it takes to make this type of selling legal.

Now that I think about it, for the kind of money that root is selling for, I would be more than happy to let some Chinese feller come dig through my sack and pick out what he wants!

forestry16 and others

TNhunter had a question about papers that would allow selling on ebay. From Post: Idea of Selling Together

TNhunter said:Question - they mention having DNR papers.

Is that the same as a export certificate ?

Do you know what it cost an individual to get DNR papers or export certificate or what ever it takes to be able to sell like on ebay ?

Thanks

TNhunter

This is what I replied in the POST: Idea Of Selling Together

Your question about DNR papers. In Wisconsin where those roots listed on ebay where coming from and where I used to live, DNR is abreviation for Dept of Natural Resources. Which is the state operation for what other states call Dept of Fish and Game. They set all the rules and regs. pertaining to Wild Life and Habitats.

As far as the listing mentioning DNR papers. He could be just refering to his license to harvest Wild Roots in his state.

I know for WI a dealers license to sell up to 100 lbs of roots cost $100. Certification by the state for selling out of state is free. So as far as I can see, if you had all the right paper work in place you could legally sell on ebay from the state of WI.

And it appears that every state is diffrent. In Maine, in order to sell my Wild Simulated roots out of state, all I need is to have the state certify it, which is free. No dealers license required.

You would really have to do your Homework to make sure it's legal in your state.

Here's a few more Finished auctions on ebay.

These all appear to be from Wisconsin.

There were many others, but not selling as high as these.

I sell about $5,000 a year of taxidermy mounts on ebay. And I know that some weeks they wont sell and other weeks everybody is bidding on it. It all depends on who shows up for the auction.

in kentucky to sell on ebay, it has to be certified for export in the lot size of the auction. only licensed dealers can do so. www.kyagr.com/marketing/plantmktg/ginseng/GinsengFAQ.htm . I'd think you'd have to mark the auction to be sold only within the US, too.
