been down to Johnson a few times coonhunting and rabbit running with the beagles..are there any swamp rabbits left..I'm in coles county..basically a 50 min. drive east of terre haute or a 50 min. drive straight south of Champagne.
Very few swamp bunnies left.
You must have been hunting down around cache river bottom.
Use to be alot of coon there and bunnies.
I use to coonhunt up til about ten years ago.
Now mostly just ginseng.
that's exactly where we hunted ,cache river over near Karnack and Belnap..we have not been down there in 3 years due to the decline in the rabbit population..[darn bobcats]..we never killed many but sure liked to run them with a pack of beagles..some good looking sang woods over that way.
