I was WAY OFF the 2001 dollar to yuan exchange rate.
heres what it was then.
2001 United States Dollar = 12283.14 Chinese Yuan
So what bought 1 US dollar in 2001 now buys $140.00
Of course I'm sure we need to take into account the inflation that's incurred in China also throughout these years. Like I said I'm not a economics major and it was a good question Brad.
Right, that's why I said with certain adjustments.
So if the average paid (without adjustment) was about $288 and that x3 (from the roughly 3x production of that year over last year) pulls us to around $860/lb, that would be actually sort of surprisingly about right.
$860.00lbs + inflation and a 14,000% increase in the Yuan to the dollar exchange ratio = ????
By the way I've been perfectly happy getting $750-$1000per lbs for my dried root.
WHEN I STARTED THIS THREAD i ment it toward the end consumer more then local buyers but i agree with what you guys are saying hell it cost me 4 times as much just to hunt ginseng then it did ten years ago. What surprises me the most is the lack of faith some diggers have in the product like they think its really worth less and the asians will find out and never buy again well i for one abslutely know ginseng does work i eat a little everyday during season to fight of exhuastion after 32days im still going
