sanghunter,

Fresh is opening at $160 a lb, At a little more than 3 to 1 drying ratio that equates to $500 dry,
They don't want it washed if selling fresh, just shake the dirt off, place in cardboard box or paper bag and put it in bottom of refrigerator. It should keep for a couple of weeks.

It kind of depends on how much you need the money,

Personally, I only dry roots when the fresh/dry price ratio is 4 to one. Say fresh is 150 lb, I would need 600 lb to offset the additional risk of the drying process.
While the risk of damaging or outright ruining the roots while drying is small once you get the hang of it, the risk is still their. Mold, discolotarion, breakage, insects, mice all are threats that could turn a nice profit to nothing with only a small lapse in attention.

Good luck

I never hardly sell fresh unless its a have to case if you can keep it a while before selling 8 out of 10 years it will make you money . that being said if the market should go south you might end up sick so research what works best for you good luck and happy digging
