Why would a international dealer from Tn: go along with any one and allow his states ginseng to sell for less ?
Why would a international dealer from Ky: go along with any one and allow his states ginseng to sell for less ?
Why would a international dealer from Ms: go along with any one and allow his states ginseng to sell for less ?
Why would a international dealer from Va: go along with any one and allow his states ginseng to sell for less ?
Why would a international dealer from any of the states where ginseng is being quoted to low in price go along with any one and allow his states ginseng to sell for less ?
Their is people at wrong in this and i agree with Chieftain that most dealers could not tell a difference in ginseng from one state to another, but i believe that the asian market buyers the ones that buy directly from our Nations international dealers are the ones making the difference in the prices of different states ginseng.
I have saw ginseng from 10 different states ginseng,,i have saw top, middle, and low quality grades of ginseng from each states ginseng 1 pound lots that i aqquired (and do not wory it was all done legal).I did this on purpose,me being a dealer and a digger i wanted to see this ginseng so I bought ginseng for personal understanding and lay it all out, graded it all,(and i know all the grading techniques)then compared it one to the other, and i will tell you that far as looks go,it is all close except the color varys often due to soil, how ever every state had some ginseng with nice rings, growth stress, long necks, ball shape,5 of those states had Mountian root 3 of them are on the low price end this season even tho their seng is just as good in every aspect as the top selling states is.
The deceit is in the oversea market they are the ones that get every states ginseng together and grade it as a lot,not as a states ginseng.
The local dealers are not the ones in fault, you can not give more than you can make,or even give what you make, their is no major profit for a small dealer, they are no more than a puppet,a chance taker, and a risk taker,i have found this out...The dry ginseng market stinks for the small dealer and that is the truth of it.
If your dealer is begging you for ginseng then you need to call me i have alot to sell him, cause i will tell you this i could care less if i get a phone call,or a visit from some one about dry ginseng at all and thats the simple truth it has not been worth the trouble,I would rather dig 1000 times over buy and sell dry ginseng.
I said this before and i will repeat it,
If you think that being a small dealer is so prfitable or that your dealer is a rip off specialist, then by all means go to the agriculture department for your state, get your dealers licence next season, and when you do let me know.
Because when all i can get is 450 a pound i want you to give me 500 a pound for it,
just let me know when you get your license,if you want to give it to me i will take 600 a pound for it,
just feel free to pay me however much you want above what you are getting for it,and you will be out of business before you get started in it.
A buy for more and sell for less business man will fall flat on his face fast...their is no wisdom in that,it would be all together foolish to do it...
You think im being a smart ellic ?
I am not,try it guys,i hear this over and over my dealer the local buyers ?
The blame is not in the small dealer,if you do not believe that then by all means quit talking and do something about it next season,,,please buy my ginseng next season i will have a load of it for you to loose 50 ,100 a pound on.
Now that is foolish talk, and everyone here that has been here a few years knows me good enough to know that i do not actualy want you to loose money paying more for ginseng than you are getting.
But understand this Neither do I nor any other small dealer want to loose by paying more than they can get,and we do not deserve to be ran down, and slerrs throwed everyday because we are not the controlers of the market,How hard can this be to understand ?
Billy.
