As diggers we have to produce the best product we possibly can. Dig careful, keep the necks undamaged and the root whole. Dry it right over many weeks. Also dig the big roots and leave the small ones and plant back as much as you can even if you have to buy seed to do it with. These basic steps will keep the product quality high and the price you get for it up there where it should be. Crummy root will get a crummy price at market. These basics have allowed me to achive excellent prices for my roots for many years and will so for many years to come. And yes we are the bottom of the food chain on one hand, but on the other without our american husbandry of this plant there would not be a supply to speak of. Someday maybe we really will get the prices we deserve.
