TOPIC: Lil' yellow spots?

Lil' yellow spots? 13 years 11 months ago #9850

Looking at some 3 leafers this evening and noticed some small yellow spots on the leaves. Plant looked healthy other than that, noticed 5-6 in the same location with those little spots?

WildCrafter

It sounds like they have alternaria blight. Usually the early sign of the blight is a yellow spot with a small brown or dark dot in the middle and it will grow larger.

Check this out.

List of treatments:

It's usually caused by plants growing too close to each other. Poor air circulation

I have never had this disease over the seven years of growing, so I'm not sure what you should spray on them. But I would look for organic sprays instead of a chemical.

Agree it could be Alternaria Blight.

Here is a pic of a nice old mature broad leaf 3 prong that has some alternaria blight spots on it.

It was not in a crowded situation at all and other than the few spots it had on it (later in the year Sept 3rd 2010) it was a very nice seng plant and had a excellent root on it.

Larry Harding looked at some stuff I had on youtube and emailed me back saying he noticed some of my wild plant pic's had a touch of alternaria blight and he pointed out this one specifically.

TNhunter, WildCrafter

From what I have heard, it is rare for Wild Ginseng to have diseases.

From what I have just read, is that the yellow dot or halo is a true indication that its Alternaria Blight and not some other disease.

Here is a good site with picture and disease identification. Scroll about halfway down the page and open the PDF file.

If you leave Alternaria Blight untreated, it will spread. Most times it only kills the top and the root will emerge next spring.

guys indeed it is very rare for a wild patch no matter how closee planted to have diseases but yet i have still seen it. Especially in years like this one to be exact where we have had a lot of rain. also u can remove the plant to keep it from spreading or u can wait until july to remove it because if it makes it to july it will survive to sprout another year. Alternia blight is not that bad of a disease but yet u still dont wont it in your patch. if it does kill the plant if its 2 year or older all it does is stop plant growth for that year. Oone way i have fount to keep this disease down or non exsistant is to spray with Manzate its wat i use and have had excellent success with it. You can find it usually at any farm and garden store or they can order it. also you may want to remove the mulch because it will live on it and when it comes back up next year it will get right back on it. I hope this has helped u some
