If you are just putting them in to stratify this august, you keep them in the ground (stratification process) until next august. Be sure they do not totally dry out or your seed is ruined. Keep them moist (not soaked) through the process. Then you can dig them up, clean them up -you can float test at this time if you want- and plant in the ground next fall. They should come up in the spring of 2010. It takes ginseng seed two annual cycles of freezing and warming to germinate. Or you can plant the seeds into the ground this fall but you won't see your results until the spring of 2010. I hope this helps.
