TOPIC: Red Berry surprise !!!

I took a few minutes to check out my seed producing bed this evening..

I have a couple of spots near the bed where I have some wild sim growing in small patches and found a red berry surprise this evening.

July 24 and red berries on this little 3 prong already. This one was planted from stratified 5-6 years ago. This is the first year it has put on any berries.

Looks like it is a early bird for sure.

I planted those 4 red berries nearby...

Took this pic of my seed bed. None of them had red berries yet.. a few had green berries on already and many of them were just starting to set berries and some still at the end of bloom.

I put a little more gypsum and other organic fertilizer on the bed this Feb... and it has been a good growing season here this year.

We have had good rains in June and July this year (we don't always get that)... It still looks like May in my fields and woods, nice and green. Only had to water my garden a couple times this year and that was early June.

A good growing season this year.

Here is a pic of a nice 3 prong in the bed... prongs bigger than my hand and set wide apart too.

I bet some of my seed bed roots are whoppers by now.

I took a few pictures of some of mine. This is a bed that is packed pretty full so they get a little disease towards the end of the year but never anything major.

Sorry I only posted one in my first post... Here are a couple more.

They are looking pretty good (top wise) now.

Got out today and checked on some of my wild sim patches...

Found several with red berries on.. planted 100 berries or so today.

Found some higher on the hill that were yellow and down already. August has been hot and dry here... been hard on the seng already.

Down lower on the hill... most were still looking pretty good.
