TOPIC: Seng up - North West Illinois

I always use wheat straw. This was actually the worst straw ive ever used. It was full of seed and came up thick like i was sowing a yard but I hit it with a little spray and killed all that out about a month ago.

if you did, it would be a full time job and you would have to hire a few to help

I went and checked a wild patch yesterday here in central ILL... all up and doing good.....

Checked on mine last week and plenty up, yet plenty not. Decided to stay out of the woods until it's all up so I don't trample any. I scattered a lot with wildgrown seeds which pretty much all came up last year. Still looks like all their seeds are going to survive into year two. A lot of 5 leafers and a descent amount of two-prongs.



On another note, to update those who might remember an issue with my Northeast Ohio acquired Canadian seed that had not one sprout last year; well it looks like every one is sprouting this year. Someone slipped that seller/dealer some green (emerald) seeds. Oh well, I am happy so many are up, even though I lost a year of growth.
