TOPIC: Mild winter

Mild winter 8 years 11 months ago #37985

With the mild temps we are having this year in the Midwest, should we be worried about getting the number of cold days needed for ginseng to germinate? I'll have to go back and look up the exact numbers but it was something like 45 days below 45 degrees correct?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

No worries. Today is actually the first day of Winter at 11:49 pm Eastern Time. Ol' man winter will surely rear his ugly head soon enough. On a positive note, at least the days will start getting longer tomorrow.

Jim,

and Merry Christmas to all.

Ginseng will germinate in a crisper drawer in your fridge. I think Dr. Persons said that for higher temps, it just needs longer exposure to the cold weather. You are good.
