Don't keep them in the fridge, and don't keep them in an air tight container (i.e., plastic bag). A plastic tote (shoe box size up to about 5 lbs) works well, costs a buck, isn't air tight.
Do what Jimsenger suggested and check them every couple days for excessive moisture (leave the lid off a bit) or too dry, add very little water (too much dramatically increases the opportunity for disease) and stir them up. Plant as soon as you can...most of the ground should have enough moisture by now I'd think depending on where you are.
