TOPIC: I finally talked myself into doing it

Enough babying around with these plants I decided to take Boomer up to Roan Mountain State Park this morning to do some scouting. After dinner we made our way back to some more familiar mountains and I said that I'm just going to do this and get it over with. We pulled up to a patch of three year olds and after walking awhile I found what looked like an average sized planting and got one right in the middle to dig. I recorded it on camera and you can see what I found. Whether it's good or bad, you guys can decide.

I found a stick about 15 inches long that made a pretty good digger and I started to work on the soil with it and my hands as well. I was pretty amazed at the lengths of some of the hair roots.

Here it is a little closer. The root seem kind of short and starting to become bulby. The hair roots were extremely long,7-9 inches. They just kept going down into that rich black soil.

I held it up to give some kind of comparison of size with my hand.

I placed it right back in the ground after telling it that I was pleased with it's looks It needs about 7 more years at least and we'll see how they look then.
I took some more pictures of berry bearing 2 and 3 prongers and I'll place them on a little later.

I did not have to take many more steps until I started running into plants with ripe berries on them. I got to plant several of them while I was looking around.

Carolyn and I are going to get back up there and top these babies before deer hunters that are scouting see them.

It felt good seeing the crop of berries they are producing.
