I have bought from some where else and planted in the spring. I've had about the same germination rates as when I plant in the fall. Only done it a couple of times though.
I know commercial growers who didn't plant last year because they couldn't get seed and the seed they could find was 3x the normal price. I also understand from reliable sources that some commercial growers actually imported seed from China in order to be able to plant last fall.
