TOPIC: moss question

Re:moss question 11 years 1 month ago #27680

Here in my area we call it Turkey Foot, or Ground Pine. For me, everytime I see lots of Ground Pine, I find no ginseng at all.

Sounds like Ground Pine, Club Moss, Turkey Foot is all the same thing but is not a good place for Seng to grow. Good for morels tho at times.
Great tip fellas. Sounds like a good indicator of where not to hunt seng or to plant seng seeds.
Thanks,
Latt

All the literature says it is a poor indicator plant but two of my best plotts have lots of this ground cedar.

Tanner
Here local in PA find it in areas after strip mining, poor soil being the main indicator.

Latt I also find morels around it..... poor soil (barrier).

Now if I where planting sang in these area's I would plant it on the edges of that Lycopodium not in it. The best soil will be at these edges. Soil running molds, mycelium etc run to these points and stall. When stalled they soil build, waste from living organism is very high in nitrogen.

It's just an I-phone that I used to take the picture, and it's several years old, I-phone 4 I think. I make sure to click on the little focus box on the screen when taking the picture, and that seems to make it better. I didn't use any other adjustments (aside from sizing it to 800x800).

Yes, thanks for everyone's comments on the moss. I think I'll plant a few seeds in and around these areas next fall just to see what happens.
