dont do it it will ruin your ginseng works great on other herbs like yellowroot or that one the choppers are always looking for but will make wild ginseng look differnt and can really hurt the quality and price

What do you think about Composted Cow Manure and Gypsum mixed together? I have found some awfully big Ginseng tops with big roots in old pasture fields that had grown back up with big hardwoods.

From what I can tell, the difference in cultivated root and wild is the wild character which the truly wild, wild simulated and woodsgrown roots possess. The difference in those and cultivated is fertilization or anything that boosts the growth of the root. I've used gypsum in the past, and last year put some down as a test. If the roots lose their wild character, I'll never use it again.

I agree with the others, never add fertilizer in any form to areas where wild plants grow.

Since cow manure is organic and natural, I might just try a little bit of it and gypsum mixed together to see what results I get. Just like the Brylcreem commercials said, \"A Little Dab Will Do Ya\" so the mixture might do the same for Ginseng!

Manure may be natural, but I would argue that it is not natural to the places wild ginseng normally grows.
