TOPIC: Property pictures

Property pictures 11 years 2 months ago #24097

Here are some pictures of the property that I bought last year. There are about 2-2.5 acres that I can grow sang on. Here are a few pictures.

Here's the bad part.

There are hogs on the property and this hole in the ground is where I planted a sang root 3 days ago. They found several of the roots that I planted and dug them up.

I don't know if you can tell it from this picture but, they have rooted up this entire hill side.

I am going tomorrow to pick up the supplies for my traps but, I'm also going to surround the area where the sang is going to be with electric fence.

I'm going to focus on getting a good strong sang population on this property so I'm not going to sell much of any of the sang that I dig for a while.

Here is some of the dirt. It's good looking soil for the first 6 inches or so.

Hunter...

Nice looking property.

That one tiny bulb root with lots of age... that is the kind I keep to eat myself. Sweet !

PS - noticed you have some good looking woods and then back behind that can see what looks like a clearing.

If you have areas where you can plant seng, and along the edge of that clearing especially where you have woods with a clearing to the east.

I would experiment with planting some on up closer to the clearing. Seng likes morning sun and can actually take quite a bit of it at near direct sunlight as long as it's early morning sun. It will grow bigger, faster, in areas like that.

Good Luck !

Nice looking spot. I don't know about the hogs, we don't have them around where I live. I would recommend a full on battery cattle fence charger. I used a Parmak ...12 I think. 9600 volts...and the deer wanted nothing to do with it while I had it up. ;)

TNHunter, there is an open area towards the top but, I think most of it get's to much sun. Those pictures were taken around 3 pm and the top soil is REALLY thin (2 inches deep MAX) the closer to the top that I get. There is another clearing on down towards the bottom that I'm going to put sang on the edges of that shouldn't get much evening sun at all.

Those old roots are my favorite to replant. These little one's won't shell out bucket loads of seeds for me but, I like them anyways.

There is no shame in Massacring hogs.

the hog problem could be a deal-killer. I you want to reduce their population, you'll have to go after them at night. Remember that what they lack in vision, they make up for in smell and mean-ness.

Study hog anatomy for the best kill shot placement. And remember that these are good to eat!
