TOPIC: Plant emergence in northern Indiana

Re:Plant emergence in northern Indiana 10 years 10 months ago #22556

Nice looking 3 leafers and looks like you got a good rain.

Is that white stuff in that last pic - Gypsum ?

I put down near 700 lbs back mid Feb.

It's just naturally occurring bio matter and minerals, I didn't add anything except some weed killer last summer a few months before planting...really rich loamy soil here even in the woods, it's so good a local university operates a research farm just a few miles from here for that very reason

The white stuff could be the mycorrhizal fungi before they spread out with the warming season.

I see that stuff in my area as well, and later in the season, it's \"snaked out\" thru out the soils.

Standing out there ya don't really see it, thought it was just light reflecting off the rain that had fallen, that being said if it is a fungus should I spray for it just to be safe?
