Chris and Rich I do not seng Alabama, but I do go there on roofing contracts and the area that I go ot is in Huntsville Al.Thats near to the South Pittsburg area and Section Al area where the well known Lake Guntersville is,we also Bass fish down there when we can get time usaly 1 or 2 times a year.....I have sevral very good friends that live there and have inquirred of them about seng in the area, and have been told that there is definately seng their,I wouldnt have time to go there for senging reasons I have plenty mountians here in Ky,but if I was going to go somewhere it may be there because of the reports I got from good friends.

If you do try it,find the north facing slope of the mountian and plant the seed at first to do a triaL plant,if it grows well their, you can move around more.I know that Alabam has alot of flat land it is according to where you are there are mountians in some areas as well.If you do not have Mountians on your land then look for the darkest and most moist area on the property for your trial.I am prety much postive that you will have luck with it,the soil is good in that area,I have noticed this while fishing the hollows of the lake.

G/L Guys,

Billy.

Yes there is seng in the northeast part of Alabama! It is not everywhere but can be found on the sides of some of the mountains I have already dug a few lbs with my dad this year and I am about to go back digging some more! We found a nice patch last week and I am about to go see if I can find more up higher on the mountain. It is true don't waste your time on the wrong side of the mountain! There are alot folk lore about old timers here planting hollows full of seng. It is true though people in this area hunt it every year. The seng here is really sensitive to the climate and on dry years will not come up and it will die down early for the season.
