Billy,
That is a bueaty for sure. I like it when I find seng that has those big broad rounded tip leaves like that. When you see em like that you know they are happy where they are growing. The light conditions and soil conditions have to be near perfect for the plant.
When I find seng on the bluff areas around here they often look like that.
Below is a pic of a nice 3 that I found growing in that rock chip filled soil just below a limestone bluff. It was getting good morning sun, but no direct evening sun.
The seng we find in the average woods around here does not look like that though. It is more spindly, thinner pointy leaves, and smaller roots, even though it may be 20-30 years old.
I expect that most of the places you dig up there in and around those mountains has soil that is probably similar to the soil in the bluff areas that I hunt. Loaded with calcium and minerals..
Also - THANKS for sharing that 5 Prong with me and well with everyone here on the board. I really appreciate it.
Looking forward to showing off the pics for years to come.
It is in one of the more bueatiful locations near my home and has a nice view of a steep rocky gully and waterfall. The soil it is growing in is rock chip filled and I have dug a many nice seng plant from that location over the years. I expect it to do well there.
Thanks
