TOPIC: Heads up!

Heads up! 12 years 6 months ago #17405

Good evening guys,
I just thought that I would pass this info along to any of you in the Tennessee, North Carolina, Southern Kentucky, and Southern Virginia area. We have had a lot of rain recently and apparently conditions are right. What looks like Alternaria Blight appears to be active and spreading in these areas. If you have any beds that you feel like you might want to protect, now would be the time to spray. You'll see it on the May Apple and one or two other companion plants if it is in your area. Tomorrow would be a good time if you feel like it fits into your plans.

I haven't seen any so far but I assume the conditions are getting right. At first emergence everything got a dose of captan and just last Tuesday I resprayed with a different fungicide. I always add surfactants but after the downpour we had yesterday... They'll probably get it again tomorrow or sunday. I also noticed a little slug damage in one small area so, its back out with the deadline.

Good move Hill,
This stuff will show up as the moisture levels and tempratures become right and the spores open and start to spread. This type of thing will slowly move North and to higher altitudes. Best to stay ahead of it if you have had problems before.
