TOPIC: Can't wait for spring...

On Sunday I went out shed hunting with my daughter and my dog. My daughter found an old one from a year or two ago. We also happened to jump 3 bucks with the antlers still attached to their heads. Kinda hard to find them on the ground if they haven't been shed yet:laugh: . This is something I'll do 3 or 4 times a year when \"cabin fever\" starts getting the best of me. It sure beats sitting around the house. Based on those sightings it looks like not too many have shed yet, but I have a buddy who shot a pretty decent sized buck that had already dropped his antlers a month ago during Ohio's muzzle loader season.

It's difficult in Maine to find sheds with the deep snow we usually have at this time of the year. But right now we only have about 6\" of snow on the ground, compared to 2-3 feet of snow in a normal year.

Here is a matched set of sheds a buddy of mine found three weeks ago. He has pics of this deer on a game cam, but never saw the deer during the season. He found one side and then spent four days looking for the other side. He finally found the second antler about 400 yds away from where he found the first one.

One side scored about 72\" and the other side scored about 76\"(gross score). A very nice set of antlers. I have a huge extra whitetail cape, so I will be doing a shoulder mount with these antlers.

I said the same thing as you when he brought those antlers in.

And get this. He would'nt give me the location of where he found the huge antlers. Oh well. Go figure!

Classic - That's one heck of a set of Antlers!!!! Great mass all the way through.... and pushing 150 not inclucing the spread measurement... One stud of a buck No Doubt! I'm sure that'll make a great looking mount.

It's the nicest matched set of sheds I've seen coming out of our area.

I will post a pic of the deer mount later this year.
