Possible growing sites 13 years 2 months ago #12787

Both are pending soil tests.

this one is on the north side south facing hill of a hollow with a very dense tree canopy, and creek down the middle.

other side of the creek in the hollow North facing.

Any input on things you might see that will help me determine if it is a suitable site to plant seng on my property.

Both sites look pretty good to me, with NO rododendron, and several \"favorable\" plants in it. What time of day did you take the photos?

Not sure if you know that the NCDepOfAg does soil testing for free....

good luck!

Can't remember what time of day it was when I took them.

Yeah I sent the soil sample off 3 weeks ago. Any idea how long it will take to get the results back?

My exp. w/ NCDeptOfAg turnaround is good, however season dependant. If you send a sample off in the dead of winter, it will take up to six weeks to get it back. However, if you send one out during the months of May - October, the turn around is about 3 weeks. Nothing is fast, however, free is good.

I've sent approx 30 samples to them, of the same area... after soil additives, and am graphing the results on my Apple computer to show me what is needed next[if anything].

I have also found that if you send the sample directly to the lab in Raleigh, rather than depositing the thing at the local county Ag office, it will get done quicker.

I was wondering about the time of day as the photos seem to have borderline enough shade for 'sang in them [IMHO].
