I was up to have a look see and do work on my patch. Very nice day, not too hot, however got run off the rain around 14oo. I was glad I got started much earlier.
Dry up there, I guess that I've lost about 10% of my 3-leafers. My rootlets are decimated by deer. there are 3 deer \"superhighways\" in and out of this area; well used trails with lots of recent hoofprints. I put in 300 rootlets, and I have a bout 8 above ground now.
Hunting season is gonna be payback, however I could get venison in the freezer more locally to my home. this payback is going to be for \"crowd control\", and I expect to have to do this at least 3 times in order to be effective. Maybe all year long..... here in NC farmers can get auth for deer management if stated as a \"nusciance\" however not too sure [yet] how to get that auth.
I did uproot one of my 3-leafers, that was too crowded with a few others. I wish I'd taken photos, however didn't. The root was about 2\" long, kinda bulky in the middle with 3 offshoots. Interesting enough, it still had the reminants of the seed pod attached.
I spread 160 lb.s of lime. It's hard to push [or pull] a ground spreader in the woods. While many of you are likely thinking \"Duh, Ray!\" about now, I definately found this out yesterday. LOL. I was going to spread 120 lb.s of gypsum however the rain stopped my progress.
My soil analysis tests have indicated that I needed this much , and maybe more. I plan on using the Agri-Gro suppliments next time as well.
