TOPIC: Wisconsin seed

Wisconsin seed 13 years 10 months ago #10291

Has anyone tried seed from one of the big growers in Wisconsin? I would be planting in KY, and was wondering what kinds of results anyone had that might me near me.

Thanks

I have had great success with Wisconsin seed here in Central and Eastern Ohio. Most of my seed has been from suppliers selling \"Woods Cultivated\" and \"Wild Simulated\". However, the 3 lbs of Wisconsin seed has done well. I plan on buying some more Wisconsin seed this fall.

It gets pretty hot in Southern KY as you know. So I would try no more than 1 lb of Wisconsin seed this year and see how it does next spring. I bet it will do fine even thou KY gets much hotter than Wisconsin and for longer. Better to test 1 lb than to invest a lot of money only to find out different. But like I said I bet it will be just fine.

Latt,

How old is your plants from the Wisconsin seed? This farm has pretty cheap seed, just concerned I might get what I pay for. (cheap price, cheap seed). I might try a pound or so, and keep it away from my other plantings.

Thanks

I have some 2 and 4 year olds and then some from 15 years ago. They are doing fine. I know some others on this site have many that are 5 to 7 years old and are doing well.

I have purchased my seeds for the past seven years from Hsu Ginseng in WI.
He is the largest grower in the state.

His seeds run around $72 a lb. And they will be stratified correctly.

I have been pleased with his seeds.
