TOPIC: Chimaphila umbellata

Pipsissewa, Bitter Wintergreen. A plant of the boreal forest that tends to grow in colonies. Has medicinal value. Somewhat hard to find even in New Hampshire.

Often grows among common Wintergreen, Gaultheria procumbens.

Bitter Wintergreen is easy to overlook. Tends to blend in with all the other low-growing plants.
