TOPIC: Harvesting Mayapple

To anyone with experience. What way is the fastest way to harvest Mayapple root? Never really tried it. I know the roots are pretty shallow. Pitch fork type of tool maybe? Can it just be pulled up by the top? Any ideas would be great.

I guess a pitch fork would work. Is it selling for enough money to make it worth your time?

We dug some last week with Potato forks. Works better then Picks.

We sell to several Doctors that use fresh roots and Herbs

I really don't know if it's worth the time or not. Probably would have to dig 25LBs or more(dry) a day to be really worth it. I don't know if that amount is reasonable or not. If there is a easy/quick way to get it out the ground then maybe it would be worth it.
