TOPIC: Morels 2019 Season

Hey Folks...

Redbuds are in mid to late bloom here, dogwoods are just opening up in bloom, we have had some rain this week...

I am going to check my hot spot this evening. Would love to have some morels for supper.

Well... my old hot spot paid off this evening and the time was about right too...

Found a dozen in 45 minutes or so. That is GOOD for me

Ate 4 for dinner too.

It rained good today here and the past couple days rained some... I am going to check this spot again in 2-3 days. Bet there will be more.

PS... I saw some seng up this evening too, while hunting shrooms.

It had not been up long, still all crunched up, but I did see a couple of two prongs up in one of my wild sim beds.

You usually find a bunch of em.

For me... I have noticed over the years that early in the red bud bloom, I just do not find them... but later in the red bud bloom, when dogwood blooms first start opening up - now that is the time that I usually find them.

That usually happens the first few days of April here. No doubt that is later up there where you are.

PS... I went to my seed producing bed the next day after I found those... to check on my tops coming up, and they were....

and I found two morels in my seed producing bed !!!

It must be the best year ever for my place this year. Finding them where I never have before.

Way to go TN love those morels. Won't be til the 7th or so of May before I start to see them. But April is doing good for rain not too much n not too little. Happy hunting.

Know you guys like your crappy. Took a buddy of mine son fishing Saturday and we got into a mess of them.

Love those crappie... but I don't get to catch many of them now days. I mostly fish a small river now, no crappie, but plenty of large and small mouth bass, black perch.

I used to fish a local lake and catch crappie, but can't get in there anymore.

On the Morels... I went back and checked my hot spot again on Monday... 1 week after i found those, and found a big fat ZERO.
It had rained good just a few days before... had my hopes up but found NONE.

Seems like here I have a very narrow window for finding those Morels.
