I'm not opposed to paying $800/lb. However, for a premium that high, one needs to have a collection of completely top shelf ginseng, with good color, corky, handled perfectly, and huge in size throughout. I'm still paying as much as anyone in the state based on the quality of the collection in front of me.
However, I'd much rather tell my diggers that I'm paying around $750 depending on quality as to tell them I'm paying up to $800 and have them disappointed if their collection doesn't meet the requirements for a premium that high. Instead, most of my customers are happy that they get what --or more-- than they anticipated when they come in.
I'll be at Woodland Outdoors again Wednesday evening, and will still pick up ginseng in reasonable quantitys.
