TOPIC: Black cohosh?

Black cohosh? 8 years 5 months ago #38593

Went up on the hill today not expecting to find anything besides ferns and trees. Found black cohosh. Would Like confirmation on that though. Tried to find a book on wild plants at the library but all they had was a few books on gardening. Goin to get the scott pierson book next month but in the meantime I'd appreciate your help identifying the other plants on the hill. I have a few pics. Thank you. Its appreciated.

I've no idea what this is but it reminds me of the T rex footprints in some of the dinosaur movies.

Sorry got more pics than I was planning on computer was having problems and when it first took me to the thread there where pink pots in the first pic. Don't know what happened there. If you could Identify any of the plants that are around the main ones that would be great.
Thanks everyone.

Just one more question. When is the best time to dig the cohosh. Although I may need to remove some of it before its time to plant the seng. My hill is full of this plant.
Thank you

First three photos are absolutely black cohosh...no expert on the wild ginger, but it looks right. I have seen it with dull looking leaves and shiny leaves. Wait until it flowers and that's a dead giveaway.
