i live in upstate new york. last fall i created raised beds with bulk compost from local nursery and put in around 600 seeds. i also put some in pots and left out all winter. question is when should i see sprouting? i am seeing weeds growing but not what would look like ginseng. i carefully dug up some of the seeds in the pots. one was rotten inside other was empty shell? feeling frustrated any thoughts please. thanks Dick
They should be coming any time now if not already. If you dug the seed and they are empty or rotten inside, you have answered the question...the seed went bad over winter because of some fungal disease. On the other hand, if you check the seed and they are still looking firm and white inside, it might be delayed germination and you will likely see them next spring.
