TOPIC: Disease Identification

Disease Identification 8 years 11 months ago #34981

Prior to asking about fungicides I should have posted these pictures for confirmation of the problem. Can anybody confirm this is alteria leaf blight or phytophtora blight or something else. Thanks again! Its great to finally get in touch with other growers.

From the looks of the first pic I think that might be phytotoxicity...have you sprayed with anything?

The second pic looks like botrytis and the last pic looks like it could be either alternaria or botrytis

I have not sprayed, but I did purchase Ridomil and Aliette yesterday. The picture you are seeing is from last years infestation. I have only allowed nature to run its course to this point. No fertilizer, pesticides, or fungicides. Would you recommend spraying this year? This week all plants are emerging. How long should I wait until first application?

Ok, it shouldn't be phytotoxicity then.

Have you checked for slugs? That would be my next thought. Sometimes a hatch of baby slugs will make little nibbles all over like that. Throw down some sluggo or some of the deadline iron phospate product as your plants start coming up.

I just don't recognize a disease that looks that way off hand.

In the early spring, I'll sometimes spray copper to kill off anything on the mulch which might have wintered over.

I agree with brad on the last two(the second most definitely). I have seen some plants look similar to the first pic when phytopthora first hits(right before they wilt). If you had a pic of that plant 2 days later I could say for certain.
