I have several questions regarding hunting ginseng:
1) What do dealers require of you when you are selling to them?
2) Do they pay in cash or ??
3) What do dealers require of you if you don't live in the state that you hunt/dig in?
hello I will try and answer your questions in ky all is required by dealers is your name and address on certification papers to prove your ginseng was legally harvested in some other states the laws are different you can read all the laws on this web site. yes most pay cash dont sell to anyone who doesnt . in order to sell out of state you most certify your ginseng in the state you harvested it if not dealers cant buy it. if you hunt in one state and live in another you cant take that ginseng home with you without certifying it in most cases
In PA, when you sell they ask you for name/address and what county the roots were dug in. Everyone I've dealt with pays in cash. I've been told the same info as Leebros, if you plan to sell roots out of the state they were dug in, you need to pay to have them certified first. It doesn't really make sense, just sell them in the state you dug them.
