TOPIC: Milestone reached Saturday

Well guys I know I have only been ginseng hunting for a month now but I was wondering if I would ever find a 4 prong and praise the Lord I finally found not 1 but 2 on Saturday. Also I just want to take minute and thank you guys that have been responding with helpful suggestions, comments. Because before this forum most everything I knew was from reading and the internet. A couple of weeks ago I posted a question about what slope directions to hunt because I have heard veteran hunters say they wouldn't waste their time checking West & definitely Southern facing slopes. Well after my post several of you posted that if conditions were right to get in there. So I took your advice and went across the hollow from where I had been checking and found the most I have in a single day to date. I am sure it's not as much as you guys get but I was well pleased with the results. I am attaching pics of my first 4 and a few of the bigger roots. I was amazed at how long the Rhizomes are. Sorry to go on and on but I am fired up and can't wait to get back in there.

Nice roots... looks a lot like what I find around my place here.

Love those long necks and bulby roots.

I like that one in the top right most. I would keep that one and eat it myself.

Congrats, I'm glad I could help out with the little advice I have to give. I'm sure you'll be able to help another rookie next season now with you experience.

Tazman Good Job I like the big root they look properly dug and handled with nice necks. Its the small 2-3 year old root on bottom left that has me worried. Please tell me it was just laid down while you took the pic before you headed out to transplant it?
