TOPIC: Sell green or dry?

Sell green or dry? 10 years 2 months ago #30685

Folks

Is there any advantage to selling fresh root or dry root. Does the price come out about even in the end? Thanks for any advice on the matter.

For those that dont know.., I am a dealer. I will say the same thing that I tell the diggers who sell to me...
MOST of the time you will do better if you properly wash and dry them and wait till mid November to sell. The key word in that statement is \"MOST\". There is no definite answer, but this is as honest an answer as I can give. This year the market for green root has started at high levels... Believe me when I say that I hope that will translate into all time high prices, but at this point all it is,is hope...

To better answer your question the advantages of selling green is that you don't have to mess with drying and storing and you can immediately have cash in hand. The advantages of drying and waiting is the POSSIBILITY of potentially higher prices which translates to more money...:)
